RIT Archives Photo Alum Gallery
Rochester Institute of Technology Archives Photo Alum Gallery features exhibits of RIT photography alumni's work curated by current students. These two bodies of work from photographers, Chris Nakis and Toni Pepe, are the first two exhibits within the gallery space in RIT's on campus Wallace Library. As the first student curator of this gallery, I was expected to self-start curation, initiate timelines, and conduct and transcribe oral history interviews to keep record in the archives.
This body of work from photographer, Chris Nakis, focuses on the relationship family, culture and identity from Greece to Rochester, New York.
The pieces featured in In Her Image prompt viewers to scrutinize the societal perceptions of women. Spanning from the initial encounter with photography to the profound exploration of motherhood, this exhibition aims to simulate discourse regarding the intricate process of image creation and the subsequent impact of these images on society.
